Great wedding!

By nate  //  life  //  Comments Off

A great wedding (my little brother’s) in the books. A gentle rain started falling right after the pronouncement, which felt so good. It was a beautiful wedding of two beautiful people.

Why Game 3’s are simaltaneous

By nate  //  grab bag  //  Comments Off

The last group games are played simultaneously, and if you look at the current standings you see why.

By my count, the Netherlands is the only team that can coast through game 3. Meaning: they can lose, and no matter what else happens, they go through.

Some teams (like the USA) know if they win they go through. However, many teams need to win AND need something to happen in the other game. Playing both games at the same time means all four teams are seeking to win, and often with as many goals as possible, since they do not know the outcome of the other match.

england notes

By nate  //  life  //  Comments Off

A few quick notes after watching the England-Algeria game:

- No one in our group, in present form, is going to beat Ghana or Germany

- The US can now win the group with a win against Algeria, and an England win.

- Algeria could easily beat the US. They have the skill and motivation (They still can make it through if they beat us and England loses.)

- English fans are ruthless…and hilarious.
