back in Kenya!

By nate  //  sudan  //  3 Comments

dear friends and family,

I wanted to let you know that I have made it out of Sudan safe and sound. I am now in Nairobi, Kenya, where I will be until next Tuesday when I will board a plane for the U.S. via London.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. Ginna said that she has heard from tons of people who have been praying (I had a chance to talk to her via satellite phone). Your prayers were answered as our trip has gone well. We have been safe and healthy and the conference went very well. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness!!!

I will begin the process of posting pictures, stories and videos next week when I return. Thanks again for your support!

I googled ‘how to pack for sudan’ hoping somebody had posted what you need for such a journey. unfortunately, nothing helpful popped up. so, I write this post so that the next person who googles ‘how to pack for sudan’ has a few ideas. Granted, I have not been before and have no idea at this point if I have packed the things I need most. But here’s what I am taking for this 3-week trip to southern Sudan: read more

a week from ‘wheels up’

By nate  //  preparation  //  5 Comments

A week from today, I will be boarding a plane to Africa (via London). I have been to Kenya once before, but have never been into Sudan, which we will do on this trip. There are all sorts of emotions as I prepare for this particular trip…

First of all, I am excited. This is going to be my first chance to see the country and city where we hope to serve. With all I have read/heard about Sudan in the news, I am anxious to go in and meet the people of Sudan, particularly the pastors who have shepherded their churches through this past 20-year war. The time I will spend with them is certain to be life-changing for me and I pray it will be encouraging for them.

With this excitement, however, comes some anxiety. read more
